Are you a fan of crystal art objects and tableware? Then a visit to Royal Leerdam is a must see. Founded in 1878 and with a Royal title since 1953. Royal Leerdam Crystal offers beautiful hand crafted and mouth blown objects d’art and ornamental pieces. The brilliantly clear Cristal Superieur is Europe’s purest type of crystal. You can admire the unique pieces they made for the royal wedding and the vases they produce every year for the King’s Birthday.

Everything you’ll see is handmade and therefore a unique piece. Next to world famous designs by Copier, Meydam, Heesen en Van der Wal, there are stunning pieces of contemporary Dutch art designers like Marcel Wanders, Ans Markus and Jan Jansen (amazing crystal shoes!).

But the one thing that struck me most is the passion and enthusiasm that the employees have for their jobs. From the security guard to the Master glass blower Marco to the saleswomen in the shop. Amazing. And of course we can book a tour with an experienced guide to see the professionals at work.
